I settled on backing out the idle mixture screw 1 1/2 turns from fully set in. Then I adjusted the idle to a pleasing putt putt and the settings seem to work without any problems coming back to idle. Just keep experimenting until you find the right combination for your bike. My wife mentioned that the bike does not seem to vibrate as much as it did prior to the modification.
